District Institute of Education and Training (DIET) Chiechama was established in 1990 as a result of the upgradation of the erstwhile Junior Teachers Training Institute (JTTI), in pursuance of the National Policy on Education, (NPE) 1986, to restructure and re-organize teacher education. The institute became academically functional on 11th May 1993. Due to incompletion of civil works at the Chiechama campus, it had to function in Kohima at SCERT hostel, from 1993 till 2004. Its designated campus at Chiechama has been functional sinceSeptember 2004.

LOCATION 

DIET Chiechama is located at Chiechama under Chiephobozou Sub-division  which is  about 27  km away from Kohima town, the capital of Nagaland.
